SUMMER ACTIVITIES 2012

The majority of Black Cuillin peaks involve climbing in a very serious mountain environment with rope-work frequently used. The safety of our clients and quality of our service is of paramount importance. In order to maintain standards and maximise achievements we recommend and specialise in providing low ratio, private guiding which is a luxury service.

Private Guiding in the Black Cuillin
Daily rates for Black Cuillin outings are calculated on a basis of £200 for a single client and an additional £30 for each extra person. Discounted prices for longer bookings are listed below

Rock Climbing
Daily rates for rock climbing are calculated on a basis of £170 for a single client and an additional £30 for each extra person.

New for 2012; 4-day Open Munros course
Specifically designed for clients booking alone with ambitions to tackle as many Cuillin Munros as possible. Sliding scale of prices. Minimum of 2 persons. See the Munros page for course details and conditions.

Ratios
1:4 is our maximum recommended ratio for guiding for most objectives in the Black Cuillin. Higher ratios with lower charges per head are possible for ascents of the simpler peaks of Banachdich, Bruach na Frithe and Bla Bheinn. More guides are available for larger groups on more serious objectives

Cuillin Ridge Traverse Options
This course is only suitable for exceptionally fit and able clients in low numbers and only possible in good (dry rock) conditions. Please read the Cuillin Ridge Traverse page on this site for how bookings operate.

GUIDING AWAY FROM SKYE

Mainland Mountaineering
We are often asked to guide mainland Munros and tops such as An Teallach, the Forcan Ridge, Aonach Eagach and Liathach. Similar rates apply although larger parties can be safely supervised making the price per head smaller. Expenses for travel and accommodation are charged at cost price.

Alpine Climbing
Skye Guides works with Frost Guiding to offer a high quality guiding service for any Alpine objectives. Assessments and training done in the Cuillin allow clients to arrive fully prepared for suitable ambitions. We offer a combined price for training courses on Skye followed by an Alpine course with Frost Guiding.

All-inclusive packages: let us arrange your accommodation for you.

3/5 courses: Practical and popular. Have your guide available for 5 days but only pay for 3. This allows for rest days, using the best weather days and time to explore the island.

PRIVATE GUIDING

The prices listed below are total prices for participants booking together. Please consult the course pages for our recommended and maximum client to guide ratios.

There are two distinct styles of outing available:

1. All Winter Mountaineering Courses. Technical level to suit; average 8 hours per day.

2. Winter Walking. Low technical difficulty; average 5 hours per day.

OPEN WINTER MOUNTAINEERING COURSES
NEW FOR 2012

Due to popular demand Skye Guides is running an open course for individuals wanting to join other climbers.
The course includes 4 days of guiding in a 5-day period. The fifth day will be used either as a rest day or to allow for poor weather. It will be possible to pay for guiding on the extra day if conditions are suitable.
We will endeavour to match clients of compatible fitness and ability and stick to our own suggested guidelines on ratios.

ACCOMMODATION SAMPLE PRICES

We have very good local connections with a variety of accommodation providers including our own self-catering cottage. Any combination of accommodation and number of days of guiding is available.

PRICES FOR OTHER SERVICES

Prices are dependent on the nature of the outing. Factors include the degree of danger involved, numbers in the party and the level of input by Skye Guides.
