Toby is the next of our guys on the UIAGM Guides course. After spending spring in the Black Cuillin he will be heading off to the Alps in July.
Toby started climbing in the late ‘80s and first visited Skye soon after that. He is passionate about all forms of climbing (even bouldering!) and just as passionate about sharing his experience with other people. Sunny rock climbing in the mountains is his natural environment, but he can also be found scratching around on shadowy north faces in Scotland and the Alps in winter and spring. Skiing comes a close second to climbing, but it’s definitely second!
Toby worked for 5 years as a fire-fighter in Shropshire and London. The draw of the mountains was too strong and the climbing life won over a regular salary in the end. He still misses driving through London with blue lights and siren on though! He is also an experienced carpenter, so feel free to get in touch if you have an alpine chalet in need of restoration!
