Es hit the national headlines in 2007 for breaking the long-standing record for the Traverse of the Cuillin Ridge. He is one of Britain’s top young mountaineers, pushing standards on Scottish and Alpine winter routes. The next stage in his career is to complete his qualification as a UIAGM guide.
Es is available for guiding in the Cuillin through May and June 2008 for Ridge Traverses, Munro bagging, scrambling and rock climbing. He doesn’t expect to break the record in the company of clients but his intimate knowledge of the Ridge will strongly enhance your chances of success.
Es grew up in the Peak District, learning to climb with his dad at a young age. He focused on fell running throughout his teens which culminated in running for England. He changed his focus from running to climbing at 18 going to Uni in Edinburgh “because I knew it would mean I could get into Scottish winter climbing.” Scottish winter has been his main focus for pretty much the last decade. Recently he got back into running and was very pleased to fuse his climbing and running abilities with the realisation of a big long standing ambition: a record traverse of the Cuillin ridge.
